Meet Monique

Monique J. Leaverson is an independent consultant specializing in strategic planning, project management, program deisgn, leadership coaching and professional development. As a former school leader, lifelong educator and first generation college graduate, Monique beleives that education is essential to upward mobility for BIPOC communities.

Monique started her career as an English Language Arts teacher in Detroit, MI start up charter school where her impact was observed in her care and focus on on students’ emotional and academic growth.

After achieving results in the classroom, she transitioned in education leadership, as an Instructional Coach before becoming a Middle School Principal in a Nashville, TN start up charter school. During her time as principal she was a participant in two highly regarded Principal fellowships. In her school leadership, Monique successfully supported the adoption of a rigorous and culturally relevant curriculum and key school culture systems.

In 2020, she returned home to Detroit, MI and continues to work in education administration and operates an independent consulting company. Monique continues to scale her impact in education through partnerships with value aligned education, philanthropic and nonprofit organizations.

Monique holds a BA in Seconday English Education and a MA in Educational Leadership and Policy, both from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.

In her free time, Monique enjoys spending time with her husband, Ryan, and children, Savannah and Royce.
